Hamad Al-Ibrahim

Executive Vice President, Qatar Foundation Research and Development

Dr Hamad Al-Ibrahim joined Qatar Foundation (QF) in 2012, serving as Director of Planning and Strategic Initiatives at Qatar Foundation Research and Development (QF R&D). He has made a significant contribution to the development of the five-year business plan for QF R&D and its research entities.

Dr Al-Ibrahim currently serves as Executive Vice President of QF R&D, overseeing research in the fields of energy and the environment, information and computing technology, life sciences and biomedical research, and social sciences, as well as leading Qatar Science & Technology Park, part of QF R&D, which is home to more than 40 multinational companies including GE, Microsoft, and Siemens.

Before joining QF, Dr Al-Ibrahim was involved in designing the Qatar National Research Strategy as part of the RAND Qatar Policy Institute think-tank team, where he led discussions on the strategy’s health component. While at RAND, he gained international experience in developing public policies, as a Research Project Manager and an Associate Analyst.

Dr Al-Ibrahim also worked with Qatar’s then Supreme Council for Health to develop a framework for clinical services planning; and on two projects for the Qatar National Food Security Program to develop the budget for its masterplan and to support human resources planning through the engagement of key stakeholders.

Appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Science & Technology Park in 2016, Dr Al-Ibrahim also serves as a member of ESCWA Technology Centre’s Board of Governance, and as a National Coordinator of the MENA Innovation Dashboard.

He holds a Degree in Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and an Executive MBA from HEC Paris, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy from King’s College London.
